Thought of the Day

I was in a Zoom meeting and had to come up with something pithy and this is what I came up with:

"relationship is the foundation for action".

I quite liked it and I hope it could be of some use to you, some random person on the internet. Maybe if it gives you something to think about, I will be happy.

Otherwise, it's just a thing and that's still not half bad.

Cheers.

Thought of the Day

You're better than a masterpiece, because you are capable of change.  An art object is forever frozen in a  static existence. You're capable to growth, change and transformation so make the most of it.

Thought of the Day

Talking with a friend at work today brought out something that had been swirling in my head the past few weeks but just now came to fruition:

"Stop projecting, start accepting"

Why should someone be who I think they should be?

Isn't it wrong-headed to expect someone to cater to my desires or needs?

Can't the other person be accepted for who they are, what they offer? In fact, I want to be accepted for who I am too.

Shouldn't I have the integrity to offer the same?

Thought of the Day

I was talking with my wife about my lack of ability in regard to teaching and I said, "You know average is underrated".

It stuck me as silly and yet completely true.

Of course she said I wasn't average, but I know better.

Thought of the Day

Nothing I say, write or do will be remembered.

In as few as one hundred years my dreams and triumphs, my failures and defeats will be dust.

So in between now and forever, I choose to love and work in small ways to make the future better for the generations to come.

Thought of the Day

It's almost unreal I live in a world that in the last five months...

A good Star Wars movie came out.....

A new Pee-Wee movie came out

and

Weezer released a good album!

I am floored.

I feel like this my pop culture moment in the sun.

Just give me a moment to enjoy this.....

Thought of the Day

Asking what someone else deserves will you get you no where and it ultimately, distracts from the true answer of what you or we should do.

Honestly ask yourself, what do you deserve?

Thought of the Day

Genius is often untidy.

- from one of my old notebooks (pretty sure I wasn't referencing myself here even though my default inclination is "untidy").

Thought of the Day

If you want to irritate someone, get a bumper sticker.

If you want to debate someone, post something on Facebook.

If you want to change someone's mind, tell them a story.

Thought of the Day

Came up with this the other day lecturing to my class (it's a keeper).

Cynicism is easy to fall into, but hard to get out of.

Thought of the Day

Today I told my class without irony that, "I only curse when it's appropriate."

Thought of the Day

Don't mistake knowledge for intelligence.

People think you're smart if you know a bunch of "stuff"

Intelligence is what you do with knowledge.

Thought of the Day: Weird

After my son was playfully screaming at me like a character off of Street Fighter II, I told no one in particular (because it was just the two of us), "Everything I touch goes weird."

Thought of the Day

If you are the parent of small children and aren't tired, you're not doing it right.

Thought of the Day

I hope heaven smelles like Texas Moutain Laurel .

For those who haven't had the pleasure - it blooms once a year for a few weeks and it smells sweet, almost like grape soda. But that doesn't do it justice. Needless to say, I love it.
